Hi, I’m Emily. I’m a 25-year-old social worker based in Arlington, VA. I was born and raised in Delaware County, PA and call Philadelphia my home. Go birds.
After graduating cum laude from Saint Joseph’s University with a B.A. in English, with minors in Gender Studies and Communications Studies, I moved to Chicago, IL and served for a year as a youth care worker at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls as part of their MercyWorks Volunteer Program. I worked with young women ages 11-14 in a therapeutic residential setting. After completing my year of service, I relocated to the DC Metro area where I currently work as a home coordinator at a domestic and sexual violence hotline and shelter. My passions lie with serving marginalized folks, specifically advocating for disabled folks, the incarcerated, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and those with trauma histories.
In my personal life, I am an avid rock climber, hockey watcher, process truster, and baker. I love travelling (who doesn’t) and am planning a trip to the Philippines for 2019. I think that communing with others is the best way to build rapport, and I’d love to cook you a meal. Really. If you want to watch the Flyers together, make a meal, go to a concert, start a book club, or even just chat, feel free to reach out!
